On Wednesday the 10th of September, the Prime Minister said he had confidence in Lord Mandelson.

After it emerged, the British ambassador to the US had described paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein as his best pal. Lord

Mandelson said he regretted carrying on the association very, very deeply and that he never

saw any wrongdoing. Last Wednesday lunchtime, Kirstama used PMQs to stoutly defend his

then deputy, Angela Rainer, who was under pressure over how much

tax she'd paid on a new home. This week, Kemi Badernock was demanding answers about another

senior Labour figure, the former Blair-era Cabinet Minister and now UK Ambassador to Washington,

Peter Mandelson, after details emerged of correspondence between him and the

convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Kemi Badenock reckoned at a time when Russian drones

had been shot down over Poland, now more than ever, we need our ambassador to Washington,

fully focused on this issue and liaising closely with America.

Does the Prime Minister have full confidence in Peter Mandelson?

Kier Stama described Epstein as a despicable criminal who had destroyed the lives of women and

girls.

The ambassador has repeatedly expressed his deep regret for his association with him. He's right to do so.

I have confidence in him and he's playing an important role in the UK-US relationship.

Labour MPs sat quiet and stony-faced as Kemi Badernock continued her questions.

Geoffrey Epstein was convicted of child prostitution and sex trafficking that took place between 2002

and 2005. That is the precise period which Lord Mandelson called Jeffrey Epstein his best

power. Was the Prime Minister aware of this intimate relationship when he appointed Lord Mandelson to be our ambassador
