On Monday the 31st of March, a conservative former Foreign Office Minister

has accused the military regime in Myanmar of war crimes amid reports that it's

continuing to bomb parts of the country following Friday's earthquake.

It's not clear how many people have died following the earthquake that hit Myanmar at the end of last week,

but a conservative former Foreign Office Minister Andrew Mitchell reckoned it was a sign of just how bad the disaster was

that the country's insular military regime had asked for international

help.

But it's a mark of the barbarity of this illegal and corrupt junta that they have conducted

11 air strikes after the earthquake took place against their own people, which is undoubtedly

a war crime.

There's been four years of civil war in Myanmar following a military coup in 2021.

The army sees power and has been fighting armed ethnic groups.

The conflict in the country makes it hard to get aid in.

But making a common statement, the Foreign Office Minister, Catherine West,

said the government would send

an extra £10 million in humanitarian support via UK-backed organisations already working in the country.

Where they will help provide the most vulnerable with food, water supplies, medicine and shelter,

regardless of their location. I want to assure the House that these funds will not be used

to benefit the current Myanmar military regime or individuals and entities sanctioned by the UK.
