Hello, I'm Sean Curran, and this is yesterday in Parliament from BBC Radio 4.

The Prime Minister accused Nigel Farage of exploiting the death of Henry Novak on Wednesday the 3rd of June,

after the leader of Reform UK, suggested the case was an example

of two-tier policing. The debating chamber in the House of Commons is designed to emphasise

confrontation and the half an hour devoted to Prime Minister's questions usually sees Westminster

at its most adversarial. But occasionally there is an attempt to downplay conflict.

Henry Novak's family have shown extraordinary dignity after their son's life was stolen in

appalling circumstances. The 18-year-old was handcuffed and arrested while he lay dying after his killer falsely accused him of racism.

The Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood nodded in agreement,

as Sakea Stama said there were serious questions to answer

about how accusations of racism informed police thinking.

But no matter the pain we feel,

there is no justification for more violence and disorder.

The attacks directed towards police officers in Southampton last night

were disgraceful and completely unacceptable.

This is a time for serious work, not rage.

On Tuesday night, two people were arrested in Southampton after protesters clashed with police near the sight of the murder.

Eleven officers were injured.

Come to the leader of the opposition, can me better not?

And the Conservative leader offered her condolences to the family and friends of Henry Novak.
