We've been doing a collection of sermons based on this one verse.

Matthew chapter 10 in verse 39.

Jesus says this, it's paradoxical in nature.

He says, whoever finds his life will lose it.

Whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

By the way, the band will be back. And we are gonna have a great time. I love you guys. Do you guys love me or okay?

That's usually how that goes.

I love your beanie too. It's cool to be a part of a church where the drummer can wear a beanie.

I grew up in church where that was not okay.

It's also cool to be at a church where Pastor Dan Peterson

wears a Seahawks jersey.

I just want to say, I love this.

We are whom the sun sets free is free indeed.

So yeah, so we've been talking about this verse and of course

Jesus when he says whoever finds his life will lose it means whoever tries to

control his or her life whoever tries to sit in the driver's seat control

everything even though that's actually impossible you can't when. When you do that, when you live life in that controlling manner,

trying to be the captain of your own ship,

Jesus says you actually won't find the life you're looking for.

It'll slip through your hands like sand. But whoever

loses his life or lays his life down or lets go of the control of his life

because of what they've seen and heard in Jesus,
