Oh, the Yankees were so close. If you were watching last night down 3-2 in the 9th, almost, almost, almost. Swung on a high fly ball, backing up O'Neill. He's on the track. Still backing up. Looking up. He said he jumps in. He made the catch. Oh. Oh. Didn't get enough oomfin to it. He did not. Dave Sims, the call on the fan. Ryan McMahon on TV looked like he really got one to go, but did not. Comes up short. Yankees would get a runner on, but that be that. Jose Caballero was thrown out trying to steal second. Yankees fall to the Orioles 3-2. The big blow on this night, Kobe Mayo's go-ahead- run homer in the seventh, hit it off of Brent Hedrick, who came in after a wonderful start by Ryan Weathers. Weathers won six and a third, had a no-hitter into the seventh, but did give up the base hit, came out after a walk then. Here was Mayo on Mason. Yeah, I got one to get out. You got to keep the process going. You can't get too down on yourself. Every abat's a new bat. Every day's a new day. So, you know, I just going into that abat, just wanted to be simple, be small, try to, you know, just put the bat in the ball. And he did snuck it in inside the foul pole and the Orioles win the game.

Here was Weather's. We talk about his outing. You know, you could make the case he could have stayed in the game after giving up the hit and the walk. But Aaron Boone made mention of the fact that, you know, he missed his last start. He lost the nine pounds. He was sick. So here was Weather's post game. How bad was that illness? I mean, it was definitely tough. Obviously, just losing a lot of fluids and stuff like that.

I think the big thing was just getting rehydrated and just really just getting some food in my stomach.

Yes, and so he looked all 100% last night for sure as he had guys twisting around in the batters box.

Offensively, well, before I get to that, this has Ben Rice on what Wethers did so well and why he was so effective. Aggressive with his stuff, I feel like, you know, especially his two different fastballs mixing those well, getting their guys out front on the change-up, you know, more of the same from him. And I always have the utmost faith in the world that he's going to do what we need him to, whether offensively or defensively.

He did make a nice play on a ball in the seventh inning, but did not do much offensively.

So the Yankees have lost four in a row. They're 26 and 16. They now trailed Tampa by two games in the A, at least as the race beat the Blue Jays. More on that in a moment.
