Good morning, everybody, and welcome to the Mike Francesa podcast on the BetRivers Network, on the Mike Francesa channel, on the network, on YouTube, on this Friday morning before a big sports weekend, including if the weather permits today, an opening day for the Mets at City Field.

Let me see if I can just pry your eyes away from the stock market.

You know, the average person, unlike someone like me, the average person probably looks

at the stock market only when there's something crazy going on like there is right now,

where the stock market is, you know, tanking to enormous proportions as it has since the announcement of the tariffs.

Otherwise, it becomes just kind of something you might glance at, or maybe you see a symbol

as you go by and you know two or three symbols

and you see it in the airport or you see it in the coffee shop or you see it wherever and it's

running on the lower third of the screen. But right now it's a little different. Now everybody

zeroes in to CNBC and Bloomberg and stuff like that, but mostly CNBC, because I like the guys over there.

And looks for just any information that will help them, help them get through the day.

Well, you know what?

That's what sports does.

Sports is the great diversion.

It's what you do when you want to get away from that stuff and not worry about the fact that you lost

X number of dollars in your 401k or your IRA yesterday.

And it's, you know, going to mush over the weekend.

Hey, it happens.

I'm not a, I don't want to make this a political show or a economic forum, but I am not a believer in tariffs

at all. I don't see the sense in this. And this is kind of like a self-inflicted wound,

so it's hard to take. I just hope it ends quickly. What I would do, what I'm hoping for.
