A couple of things have been reported.

Joel Sherman is talking about the idea that the Yankees want to stay under $300 million, the last luxury tax ring,

rung going on before next year in the new CBA agreement.

The other report is apparently from John Hayman that the expectation is that Trent Grisham will not be accepting and will decline the qualifying offer, which thankfully that's the case.

I hope that turns out to be true.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm still nervous about that.

I do think the CBA has a lot to do with that. He's going to want guaranteed money. And if the Yankees get lucky enough, and it was

a huge gamble, and especially if they want to stay under the 300, that's a huge gamble to have

the possibility of Trent Grisham on the books for $22 million.

That's crazy.

But I don't necessarily believe that the Yankees are looking to stay under $300 million.

I think last year they ended somewhere between 317, 320, somewhere around there.

I don't think they'll go much further than that.

But I do think they're going to go above $300 million, or at least they will attempt to.

They won't just sign anyone to go over that number to keep you placated.
