We alluded to that yesterday. As far as Max Fried being on the mount, I don't really trust Texas. And then the Yankees go out there. And they start out thinking that, okay, here we go. Yanks will be back on track. Aaron Judge coming back tomorrow. And we'll see if they could get some winning done here. And unfortunately, it's more the same. Just not clean crisp baseball, wasted at bats with guys on, the inability to tack on.

Freed nowhere near what he needs to be.

And that's the issue that you have when you invest big in starting pitching.

I understand why the Yankees did it with Freed, certainly as insurance for Garrett Cole and you lose him.

But you're investing big money in starting pitchers where at best they go out there every fifth day and give you seven solid innings. And Freed has been a legit ace. Nobody's going to argue that. But when the Yankees have needed them here the last couple of times out, nowhere near good enough. And that's just par for the course with any starter. Even the best starters aren't perfect all the time. So you didn't get the best freed effort. They weren't clean

and crisp throughout the course of the ballgame. They didn't tack on enough. And then you get to

the issue with the bullpen. And this is really the biggest issue here where now a lot of teams do

this. But the Yankees, it seems, it's just magnified with them. And maybe because of the other things,

Freed wasn't great, the inability to tack on,

the more you dive into that pen,

the more you need multiple guys to be perfect.

That is just a tall order.

So even though Duval was much better,

Bednar comes in, he does the job.

Obviously Weaver before those guys.

You felt it watching the game. You felt it because we all knew this, and I'm getting to the job. Obviously, Weaver before those guys. You felt it watching the game. You felt it. Because we all knew this. And I'm getting to the bigger point in just a second here. Bear with me. We all knew this prior to the start of last night's game. Once the Yankees made all those additions, we talked about it. Betonar is going to be the closer or should be the closer. Deval maybe at some point if Bednar doesn't have it. We all knew one thing. Devin and Williams was not the closer. And yet the one person or the one organization that needs to make that decision, the Yankees, whether it's Aaron Boone, whether it's Cashman, whether it's the entire Yankees organization, the one entity that needs to make the decision on it, they chose poorly in Devin Williams.

Now, we all knew that that was the case.

So what did you think was going to happen last night in a one-run game where you're hanging on, hanging on, this guy does his job, this guy does his job, all right, here we go,

Williams got to get the job done.

And he calls it up.
