There's some really exciting news, so we're going to start with that.

There's a new paper by Lita Xing and others published in Nature, and it describes two

incredible new finds that were in amber.

Specifically, they found two mummified baby dinosaur slash bird wings from about 99 million years ago,

which is the Mid-Cretaceous.

So the specimens come from the Angbamo site in Myanmar, and so the amber that they're in is called Burmese

amber, which fluoresces blue when bombarded with UV light, which is one of the techniques they

use to make sure that it was a legitimate find and not some sort of forgery.

They're actually not the first feathers that were found in amber, but they

are the first dinosaur wings that we've ever seen preserved. And they're not complete wings. Both of

them start part way down the ulna and radius, but that still leaves a lot of the wing left in the

amber because part of the wing is that their hand kind of gets bigger.
