The WWF by WCW, what debuts!

The WWF lose the battle to keep their name and more.

I'm Luke Owen from Wessel Talk, and I'm writing a book.

For the last 10 or so years, I've wanted to write a book about wrestling, but not just

any book about wrestling, a very specific time period which I think is the most consequential

and impactful time in wrestling history.

2001, the death and rebirth of wrestling is a month-by-month blow-by-blow, slam-by-slam

account of the year that changed the wrestling world forever.

A year that saw one company buy all of its competition, a year that saw the boom period

of the Attitude era slowly die out, a year in which promoters and wrestlers who found success

in the 80s and 90s struggled to find new relevance in the new millennium.

But in the background of all of this, the stars of the future were

getting ready to revolutionise the wrestling scene. It's crazy to look back and see just

how much happened over the span of 12 months.

WWF bought WCW did their biggest WrestleMania ever turn to their top heel baby face

and their other top baby face left

for Hollywood in the span of seven days.

WWF wanted to launch WCW as its own show, so did a trial match on Raw, which went

horribly, so they turned the group heel, announced the ECW had also been purchased, and

we're now forming an alliance to beat the WWF, and then it turned out that WWF didn't actually

own any of the ECW licenses, and the Inv Invasion Paperview was in threat of being shut down

in the span of seven days.
