Today, the WWE and TNA actually worked together.

We've seen official partnerships, talent crossovers, champions on both brands, appearances.

These promotions actually worked together.

But back in 2012, that was absolutely not the case, not even close.

At the time, WWE basically pretended TNA wrestling

didn't exist. They had strict rules

internally about not mentioning rival companies on

television. TNA was viewed as competition,

even if the W.W.E. would never

publicly admit it. So when the W.W.EE Intercontinental Champion suddenly appeared on a TNA pay-per-view in 2012,

wrestling fans were stunned, and that man was Christian.

Now, this all happened because the WWE desperately wanted Rick Flair for the 2012 W.W.E.

Hall of Fame ceremony.

The four horsemen were going to be inducted, and obviously Flaire was a massive part of the legendary group.

There was just one problem.

Rick Flair was still under contract with TNA wrestling,

so the WWE had to negotiate. In TNA wanted something big in return. Their request,

Christian. Not just any wrestler, Christian was an active WWE superstar

in the current reigning and defending

inner continental champion at the time.
