Well, we knew this day was coming. We knew that three hours smackdowns were on their way back.

It was only a matter of time. And tonight was the night. Tonight was the first smackdown of the new year.

And yes, they are back to three hours for the foreseeable future. Now, last year we got three hours shows that went through the beginning of July.

And I wouldn't be at all shocked if this ends up being a permanent change.

It's just something we're going to have to get used to.

And I will always maintain that there is no wrestling show that needs to be three hours a week.

Smackdown is no exception.

That being said, this could have been a lot worse.

I did not have my hopes up very high coming into tonight. And it was not a bad show, but what we had to not only was the return of three hours, but we had the return of Randy Orton. I've been wondering where this guy is.

He's been on vacation with his family,

and then he was doing some promotional workover in Saudi Arabia,

which is why he was not adjohn seen his final match.

But he's been gone for months, and now he's back.

Randy Orton, back on Smackdown.

As we head into Rumble and Mania season,

I have a feeling that he may be getting a WWE championship match very soon.

And I'm not talking about WrestleMania.

We also got, though, before Cody Rhodes can worry about Randy Orton or anybody else,

he's got to worry about Drew McIntyre.

And he's got to worry about this three stages of hell match, which is coming up next week.

Smackdown is going to be in Berlin, Germany.
