Hey, hey, do you have a minute. Yes. Yes. Thanks for doing all the work on Mom's birthday gift. Oh, no problem. Yeah, I talked to her today and I was like, we'll have to discuss again once whatever it is arrived. She was like, I need to know if this is going to make me feel bad or if it's nice.

0:27.0

And I was like, why would it make like why would it make that? And she's like, okay, let me break it down for you. Is it something that's too good for me and will make me feel guilty or is it funny? And I was like, Oh, don't you worry. It's firmly in the funny. Oh God, that makes me feel so bad. So that was the two categories of gifts could fall into the gift that's coming as ice cream. Like, should we have gotten something nicer? No, I don't.

I don't think she would have wanted that. That's like dad's department where he like obsessive over it for a long time and then buy her a pocketbook that she's always wanted. I also think that pocketbook is only a term we use in our house. It's true. I've truly never heard another person use it. I guess handbag is usually what people say, but we have such a good point. I never even thought about that.

So I'm not actually calling today as your sister. Are you kidding me? Longest thing we did. And did you notice that I was in the beginning? I thought it might be this and I got really anxious. But now I'm, are you, you've burned me up? I could tell.

1:46.4

I just need to know though. I'm so excited to actually know the truth about those.

1:52.4

Can you record yourself on your phone? Yes, hold on one second.

2:02.4

I am recording. I'm good to go. Okay, you came to me with a factual emergency. Maybe 30 to 40 times in the last month. At least, I mean, I could be more honestly. And each time I said the same thing.

2:14.4

Go on. What was that response? A33 ring E L T. That's true. You did make a plug for the show. And you took my advice on this one issue. And call the LT help line. And here is the mystery that's been plaguing you.

2:36.4

Hi, it's Laura. This is Ruth. And I do in fact have a factual emergency to explain this query. I have to actually go back a year ago to when we hosted a pumpkin carving party in my backyard. Roughly 30 pumpkins were carved. All of their innards were then tossed into our compost.

2:55.4

A year later, we turned that compost, put it in our gardening beds, and low and behold, the insane number of pumpkin seeds did in fact sprout many, many pumpkin plants. Like every day we were pulling out probably 20 to 30 pumpkins sprouts, which seemed to grow.

3:13.4

I don't know, like two inches an hour. It was wild. Okay, eventually we decide let's make a pumpkin patch. And here's where things get really weird.

3:22.4

The vines take over our entire backyard. I start bragging the friends that I'm going to have grown my own pumpkins this year for jack lantern carving. And then what grows from them is not a pumpkin at all, but about 50 decorative gourds. I'm talking bumpy, green, yellow. You can picture them. I have googled so much. And I can't figure this out. Here's my question. Is it possible? Is it possible?

3:51.4

That the seeds of a pumpkin would produce decorative gourds?

3:57.4

Does that sum it up? That's that's it. I nailed it. That's exactly my question.

4:03.4

Okay, so you say you planted pumpkin seeds and got decorative gourds. Right. So have any of your housemates ever grown decorative gourds in the past?

4:14.4

Okay, no. No one has ever grown decorative gourds. Do you have a neighbor who's decorative gourds obsessed? Who might have improperly discussed?

4:23.4

I have a gourd in your compost heap. I really love the idea that somebody is like sneaking over the fence at night and burying gourds in there, being like just wait and see what's going to happen next year.

4:35.4

Okay, well, as you know from our many conversations about this, I have been a little bit skeptical of this question.

4:41.4

Yes, I'm well aware of your skepticism. The reason I was skeptical is because it seemed impossible. Like it makes no sense that you would plant a pumpkin seed and get a gourd.

4:54.4

Correct. But that's right. But what? I have some news.

4:59.4

Truth what you saw is is actually quite possible and quite probable in a situation like what was described. So you're not crazy.

5:08.4

Truth what you saw actually happened.
