Summary

This week, some comfort food. For a lot of us, the holidays won’t be the same this year. Instead of arguing around the table with our extended families, we’ll be stuck at home with a single-serving of mashed potatoes, face-timing the people we love. So we invited ourselves to your place. We asked you to tell us about a meal you can't forget. And you delivered. Your stories made us laugh, cry and get very hungry. Thanks to callers Margaret, Janae, Brandon, Johnny, Jameson, and Oz, and all of you who left us a message. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Hi, Flora. I'm calling about your request for a meal you can't forget. So the meal I

0:14.4

can't forget was when we were newlyweds, my wife and I, which is now almost 30 years

0:21.4

ago. And we were living in our first apartment in Maryland. And it was a snowy night, and

0:27.6

we decided we'd go out for a walk, didn't have any kids, because we were just newly married.

0:33.7

And it was just one of those nights that was continued to snow, and we were madly in

love. But we were madly in love, and we were walking around and had a little snowball

fight, and then we came in. It was incredibly cold, and my wife had made a pot of homemade

0:52.4

chicken noodle soup. And on top of that, she made homemade bread, and then to go with

0:59.2

the bread, she took honey and mixed it with butter. And so we had honey butter, homemade

bread, and this chicken noodle soup. And I just remember sitting there across the table

1:07.5

from her, just enjoying this delicious soup, and the warm feeling of being inside after

1:14.9

walking in the snow for a long, long time. And just thinking, you know, there was limitless

1:21.6

possibilities for the two of us. The future was unknown, and we just were just so wide

1:31.3

eyed and optimistic about the things that could happen between us. And that meal is just

1:39.4

one I'll never forget. A meal you can never forget. That's what today's show is all about.

1:47.8

These are coming up, but a lot of us are still stuck at home, apart from the people we love.
