Hello and welcome to more or less on the BBC World Service. I'm Wesley Stevenson. This week,

what makes a good incentive? Let's start with something that happened in a snooker match this week

that had fans fuming.

It was an incident that caused the head of the sport to brand the behaviour of one of the world's best players,

unacceptable and disrespectful.

Snooker, for the uninitiated, is a bit like pool,

but with a much larger table and a much slower game,

and you get different points

for the different coloured balls.

Ronnie O'Sullivan is one of the world's greats.

At this week's Welsh Open, he was playing true to form, and he was on course for a 147,

the maximum score in a frame of snooker and a reasonably rare achievement, even for Ronnie.

He's managed just 13 in his 25-year career.

So in this one particular game, he'd reached 80, and the way the balls lay, he was in a good

position to clear the table.

To keep himself on course, he needed to pot the highest scoring

ball, the black. This is when he paused, spoke to the referee and asked what the prize

money was for a 147. 10,000 pounds, or 14,000 dollars he was told.

At this, he turned away from the black

and potted the pink, ending his chances of a 147.

But why did he throw it away?
