4:05pm- Ukrainian President Zelensky Ordered Nord Stream Destruction: Bojan Pancevski, The Wall Street Journal’s Chief European Political Correspondent, reports: “in the small hours of Sept. 26, Scandinavian seismologists picked up signals indicating an underwater earthquake or volcanic eruption hundreds of miles away, near the Danish island of Bornholm. They were caused by three powerful explosions and the largest-ever recorded release of natural gas, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of Denmark. One of the most audacious acts of sabotage in modern history, the operation worsened an energy crisis in Europe—an assault on critical infrastructure that could be considered an act of war under international law. Theories swirled about who was responsible. Was it the CIA? Could Putin himself have set the plan in motion? Now, for the first time, the outlines of the real story can be told…Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky initially approved the plan, according to one officer who participated and three people familiar with it. 4:30pm- Is Kamala’s Sudden Uptick in Favorability Permanent? Not Likely: Steven Shepard of Politico writes: “Voters are seeing Harris in a new light since she became Democrats’ presidential candidate. Throughout the past three years, there’s been a wide gulf between the number of voters who had a favorable opinion of the vice president, and the significantly larger share who viewed her unfavorably...That doesn’t mean it will last, though: Trump’s campaign has started an advertising barrage in battleground states, trying to paint her as “dangerously liberal.” That could dent her favorable ratings, especially as scrutiny of her record ratchets up following her initial campaign rollout. ‘With Kamala Harris, it’s like ‘A Star is Born,’ said Mark Mellman, the lead pollster for then-Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) in the 2004 presidential race. ‘It’s not unreal. It’s not unnatural. It’s not fake. But it’s not necessarily permanent.
