It's film awards ceremony season at the moment and there's one topic that's come up again and again in the last few years.

A number of famous actresses have been pointing out that women seem to be getting paid less than men in Hollywood.

So are they just winging?

Or are they right?

Here to tell us more is Charlotte McDonald.

There's been a steady stream of top Hollywood actresses who have complained that they have been

paid less than their male counterparts. In 2015 actress Jennifer Lawrence wrote a post saying

that she was annoyed her co-stars in crime thriller American Hustle

were paid more than her. And why did she think that was? Okay she blamed it on the

fact that she was too nice to negotiate harder, something she doesn't think men suffer from.

Earlier this year, Natalie Portman came out and said that her male co-star,

Ashton Kircher in the 2011 film No Strings Attached, was paid three times more than her.

Which you think about it, ridiculous isn't it?
