So I'm calling this reclaiming resilience but essentially it's a

writing to heal course. I mean all the courses this year have been a what is the word a facilitator I guess of

healing but this course in particular feels a little different and maybe it's

because my new book is finally out in the world, maybe it's because I'm on the second pathway of my healing

process in the last two years. But I've been thinking a lot about how writing came into my life and how my healing really started.

And it began in therapy. A lot of y'all who know me and my work know that I've talked about this.

I was given the gift of writing to heal by a therapist, let's call her Miss B.

She was the most amazing woman and my first true advocate of self-healing,

which was interesting because back in 2008,

2009, I wasn't around many people who talked about healing yourself, especially licensed professionals who were in the roles of psychologists and psychiatrists and all of that.

So Ms. B's gift, she told me to keep a journal in my emotional toolbox and not just to brain dump or to write my

sad poetry or to write my woes about life because I've always been that type of writer.

High school, sad poems, lots of depression and anxiety happening on the page.

And yes, I'm sure that was necessary and it was absolutely cathartic

in the moment. But having someone tell me that I had the choice to

write to heal, change the game. It is one of the reasons why I am in my career now. It is one of the reasons why I am so passionate about facilitating other people in their healing through writing practice.
