You can lower mine just a tad lower lower lower lower. There you go. That's good. All right. John wait John is a really well icebreaker. Well Lisa here we are again. And you know what I'm still struggling here over the masters. It's my favorite golf tournament last. It was actually almost two weeks ago. And Lisa, you know, I just really love this kid Jordan speed from Dallas. He's you know number two on the world. I think right now.

But he had a six shot lead. He won one at last year. And he went to the 12th hole and put two balls in the water and lost the tournament. And I remember I I went to preach. Did you cry for him? No, I didn't go that far. But you know, can I say this the reason I think it's so disappointing is athletics is huge in America. It's really huge in the globe right now. And young people really look up to athletes. And you know, we've had some athletes that really haven't been good role models.

And I don't even know him, but he's just he's an excellent statesman. He's honorable. He always honors the crowd. The people he's always talking about we as a team. He never takes the glory to himself. So I don't know if he knows Jesus or not. And I hope I can meet him someday. But I am so impressed with him. And I wanted him to win that tournament so bad. But you know what? OK, so of course I was clueless that the masters.

That even happened. Well, I think I might have known from a couple posts. And I did not know who won it. Who won? Who did win? A guy from England. I don't even know his name. OK, so I but here's the thing. How Jordan handles lost is just as much of a good point and testimony. Good point. So he can come back and thumbs up to you. There we go. I'm the Christian because I'm a Christian. I'm going to be a gracious winner. But man, when you're a gracious loser in a in an

athletic event, are you a gracious loser? You know, I've learned to be I've learned to be I used to be really terrible. And teach you and teach you a couple of weeks ago. You were not gracious. And I was his partner. It's a card game that our family plays. And my wife really messed up and teach you. And we lost. OK, no, actually you won that you won that particular trick. And I will say when I played without John and I was partnering with Addison, our first born son. I won't

be a good one. So I kind of like John is the losing factor. Well, Addison and I, I don't think I have ever been defeated. I don't think you've ever played together. But I'm super excited about this podcast. I'm I'm excited about to because what are we going to talk about today? Writing tips. You know, writing is so important to communicating the gospel, the word of God. If you look at it, I mean, we have the Bible. The Bible is a result of writing men obeying God and writing the inspired word of God. How does Paul communicate to the church through writing? How does Paul's writings out?

2:58.0

And how does Paul live his life writing? Is this you setting yourself up because you the first question that our staff has put out here for us is what writers do you admire? And John, why don't you tell me is Paul one of your favorite ones? Actually, OK, let's leave the Bible. All right, one of my favorite writers is Lisa Bavaria. Okay, that's not fair. You're just trying to disarm me anyway. I don't know which books you've actually finished a mine. But here's no, so here's the thing. Actually, you know, one of my favorite books of yours is

3:28.0

I don't know what the new title is because it's not how you look. It's what you see that's that's it. Yes, that guys. I know it sounds like a weight book, but it's not if you've never read that book. It is the most amazing book on on vision, vision, idol tree. It's so good. Thank you. Thank you, honey. Some of my favorite writers, of course. I love some of the older guys. I love tozer and you like spurgen. You like a lot of spurgings quotes. I do. I do.

3:58.0

I love our man from England. See us. So, but here's the thing writing writing wasn't easy for you. No, because reading is not easy for you. No, it's not. And I love, you know, they do say they do say two things. If you want to be good writer, you need to be a good reader. Right. And so you've kind of you've kind of had a compensate because you don't like reading, but you are so diligent and consistent reading the Bible. I love it.

4:28.0

Yeah, I've been reading the Bible 37 years and I still can't wait to get into it every morning when I asked the Holy Spirit to open up my eyes. And he's the one that makes the Bible so exciting to me. But no, writing was a horrible subject for me in high school. It was actually one of my worst subjects. English creative writing and foreign language. And I still remember when we were first married, John was labeling all of our boxes for moving. And he spelled fragile F a R D G I L E. And he was arguing that that was the

4:58.0

correct spelling. So yes, I can atone that writing and spelling were a challenge for you. And yet, and yet God called you to write.

5:06.5

I mean, I was out in prayer in 1991. It was early in the morning and the Holy Spirit spoke to me and he said, son, I want you to write. And I remember thinking, okay, God, you have so many of us kids are just getting us mixed up with one another. I am not a good writer. English was my worst subject. Just talk to my English teachers. And I mean, I hated admitting this, but my SAT, the National Entrance Exam,

5:27.9

score was 370 out of 800. And in all my travels, I've only met one person who scored lower than me on the English on the SAT. So congratulations.

5:36.8

I don't know if that's what you congratulate somebody on. So I remember 10 months go by and I don't do anything because I think God, I just didn't hear God or he had it all wrong. And so, and it was probably the first one. I just probably thought that that totally couldn't have been of God. But yet it was so clear.

5:52.1

And I remember 10 months later, two women, one of them being me and said to me from two different states within two weeks of each other. If you don't, they said, John Bevere, if you don't write, what God's giving you to write, he'll give the messages to someone else and you will be judged for it.

6:09.7

And I just for all the wives out there, they're like, why in the world do they not hear that until the second person says it? It's just the law of the second witness babies in the Bible. It is. So then you began to write. Yeah. Well, no, no, I actually wrote a contract out with God. I got a notebook piece of paper. Now you got to remember this 1992. I believe it was a yellow legal pad one.

6:32.8

You actually was a spiral one. I remember tearing it out in the spiral on top. And it was, you know, a vanilla color or not yellow color, but the other come.

6:40.6

Because you are color.

6:41.5

I just remember it so well. That's true. I'm color. But anyway, you made a contract. I made a con. I wrote out in the top contract. And I and I said to God, I said, God, I really think you're making a huge mistake here.

6:55.0

You have far better writers in the body of Christ. So I don't know how to write. And then I said, I need your grace. And I wrote a few more things and I signed the contract. And Lisa, it's amazing today.

7:05.8

You know, the books that I've written are pushing seven million. They're in I think over 70 languages now 73. So, you know, nobody knows more than me. Why my name's on those books? And I know you feel the same way. My name's on that book because I was the first guy to get to read it.

7:19.6

I really believe these books are inspired of the Holy Spirit. And their messages for the body of Christ. I believe that about yours and my books and many other books in the body of Christ. So, you know, the Bible says that we're we're supposed to grow in the grace of God.
