In publishing news, well, the new publishing standard this week shared some interesting numbers from Internet World Stats.

There are now 5.17 billion people online, which is by definition connecting to the Internet using a device that could also be used to order print books for delivery or directly consume e-books, audiobooks, podcasts and anything else online.

So that is over 65% of the world's population is now using the internet.

And what is potentially more interesting for our focus is that

the USA is only 6% of the world's total internet users.
