| 0:00.0 | Movember is on the horizon and with that comes some fabulous facial hair. |
| 0:07.0 | It is going to be celebrated in the form of professional wrestling at WrestleMania in Edinburgh at the Voodoo Rooms. |
| 0:15.0 | Buzzing for this one, taking place on Monday the 10th of November from the ballroom itself. Here to talk all about it |
| 0:23.2 | with me today is the man behind the mustachioed madness. We're joined by Matthew. Matthew, |
| 0:28.4 | how are we today, sir? Hi, I'm doing very well, Tom. How the devil are you? Good, thank you. |
| 0:33.9 | Strong mustache there. Yeah, I mean, you know, it has to be. The brains behind WrestleMania. You've got to have the |
| 0:39.8 | you've got to have the goods. It's so funny because like I've watched cultaholics since, since, do you know what it is? And maybe I should have said this in the interview. It was actually a cultaholic that got me back into wrestling because I was like, I was a wrestling fan as a kid and as most people fell away and then like during university or my early 20s that was on |
| 0:56.0 | YouTube late one night you, one of these 10 times wrestlers were caught talking to each other, these kind of videos. Yeah. And that's what, that's what like pulled me back into like watching wrestling. And it was the watching wrestling that then got me into like doing it. But it was like, yeah, it's weird speaking to you, and I'm used to watching |
| 1:11.0 | you speak to other people. Oh, mate, no, I'm honoured. I'm glad that we could help. So before we get into the show itself, talk to us about your time in wrestling and sort of what's led to WrestleMania. So, yeah, I mean, look, I've been wrestling in Scotland predominantly for about four or five years now. I'm a little bit older and a lot of guys when they started. I'm in my sort of mid-30s. So I found wrestling a little bit late. I picked it up as an alternative hobby. You know, sort of bounced around from the gym to five-a-side football to everyone does that bit where they start doing half marathons |
| 1:44.8 | you know i've been through the lot and um i thought i'd give wrestling ago um i went to a couple |
| 1:49.5 | local shows in edinburgh discovery wrestling i'm sure you're familiar yeah and i thought this could |
| 1:54.1 | be a cool way to keep fit and also maybe meet some other wrestling fans um as you probably know |
| 1:59.8 | outside of our wrestling bubble um there aren't that many people that like wrestling who you can talk to about wrestling. So I thought maybe I'd meet some like-minded people, find a fun way to keep fit. And I never really thought of it as a career. And I honestly never really thought of it as a, as even like getting to do shows. I thought, you know, maybe if I got to do one show, it would be amazing. But here I am sort of, you know, four or five years down the line. Now putting my own shows together, wrestling as frequently as I can, you know, all over Scotland, getting to come down to England now as well and just, yeah, just loving it. So how does it differ for you, obviously, from getting in the ring and resting? As you say, you're now putting on shows yourself. |
| 2:36.0 | What are some of the new challenges that you've faced promoting shows? |
| 2:40.0 | Well, I mean, look, this is my first one. |
| 2:42.1 | So I think the bit that I've found easier was the sort of storytelling and the flow of the show |
| 2:48.8 | and putting that together. |
| 2:50.2 | I think the hardest part is, |
| 2:52.1 | you know, meeting everyone's needs and wanting to include so many different people. And I imagine |
| 2:56.8 | this is a problem promoters have all over, right? But it's like, I know so many incredible wrestlers |
| 3:01.0 | and I would love to feature every single one of them in the show. Like, you know, other promoters |
| 3:06.6 | might have a weekly show or a monthly show and have more |
