is sort of by a process of osmosis infiltrated every other minute of the programme,

as we desperately seek people with the correct qualifications to provide us with the proper insights.

I always have this temptation, as you know, to try and find a theme or an overarching

idea stroke question under which almost everything can be filed. And I could be wrong, but I just find myself

today thinking, why now? Why haven't they done this sooner? So cautious answers, some of which

are probably wrong, or even perhaps cliched, all of which will be ploddingly predictable.

I am nothing, if not reliable. But why are the police

only now reporting that they're going to be a lot tougher on people breaking lockdown rules?

Well, that's really easy, isn't it? Dominic Cummings is the answer to that. The police had their

powers complete. They were essentially castrated by Dominic Cummings's behaviour because once he'd been

given a free pass to behave in a completely selfish fashion, how on earth could the police

up and down the country have collared you and me for breaching the rules on a much lower scale?

Every single person in the country would have been standing in the dot going, uh, sorry, Your Honor, I was testing my eyes. Sorry, my lud. I was, I was having an eye test.

I was having, so I genuinely think that. You may well disagree, but I, um, I'd love to hear what your

answer is. I think we'll get on to the police a little later in the program, possibly from 12.

Why has it taken so long for the police to step up to the plate on this? Answer, well, Dominic Cummings. Governmental

incompetence. Call it what you will. In fact, the call yesterday that really focused my mind was the question of,

is it down to simple incompetence or is it down to a sort of callousness, a cynicism?

And there are no positive answers to a lot of these questions.
