Summary

Our first reading from the Book of Numbers and the Gospel reading from Mark both highlight a very interesting spiritual predicament, one that is presented numerous times throughout the Bible. It might be summed up as the inclination for members of the Church to subvert the mission of the Church because of their own ego driven desires and pre-occupations.

1:51.2

in the same way by sowing dissension, jealousy, rivalry, turf wars. So we spend our enemy, our

2:06.1

energy, not working for the Lord, but fighting each other. Probably the best biblical example of

2:15.3

this is the war between Saul and David. Remember, go back to the first book of Samuel, you'll find these

2:22.4

stories. Saul was the king of Israel, effectively battling on behalf of the Lord, and then along came

2:32.7

David. Young, handsome, brave, brilliant in battle. Soon we hear the women were singing, Saul has
