On December 17th, 1955, a man was born who would, by 1990, change Slovakian history.

This is the day a man named Andre Rigo was born.

The man who remains the most prolific serial killer in modern Slovakian history

and whose victim count of nine remains the highest.

According to Andre Rigo, born December 17, 1955, he grew up in a good home with good parents.

However, by just 14 years old, he was taken to a youth corrective institution

and later to an orphanage after his father was arrested and his mother couldn't handle the

children on her own. Over the course of his childhood and early adult life, he was convicted

of various crimes 11 times, ranging from home burglaries to the unauthorized

leaving of the Republic in 1989. Then, with the fall of the Iron Curtain and the end of

communism in Czechoslovakia, people were allowed to travel freely in Europe, and Rigo was able to

take his crimes abroad. After more trouble with the law, this time for forged documents, Rigo spent some time in prison and a refugee camp,

before escaping and traveling to Munich where he continued his string of burglaries and would, unfortunately, begin his killing spring.

Within the first three months of living in Munich, Rigo murdered two women.
