No one likes getting caught doing something bad. It brings on feelings of guilt and shame,

emotions that we try to avoid at any cost, so as not to damage our self-esteem. But when

we do get caught, we want to lessen the stigma of liability and deflect potential punishment.

And we do that by working through reason. Or just flat out lying. The criminals on this
