It is sometimes two sides of a coin.

A lifelong evangelical sees the emptiness of much of the worship practice and decides to go out and find a more substantive church.

They find a Lutheran church, at least in theology, they find Lutheran theology.

Then when they actually visit a Lutheran church, it's not the same as they expected.

It's more like what they left, or the other side of the coin, is that someone really wants to be able to recommend a church with Lutheran theology,

but they can't find one in their area that actually puts it into practice on Sunday morning.

I want to begin with a question for one of our listeners that I think really gets to the heart

of what I would call the vicious cycle of abandoning the liturgy,

which is often congregations that abandon the liturgy

don't know what they're giving up.

They haven't been taught.
