I had determined that I was going to go with a 1776 Revolutionary War joke today, regardless to the outcome. As you know, if you've listened to previous World Cup dailies, I did not anticipate the outcome being a positive one for the U.S. And to be fair, it's debatable whether the draw is actually a positive outcome. I mean, it's more positive than losing, which, if I'm also being fair, is what I expected.

But the 1776 thing, there was no clean access to it.

I hope you forgive the way I got there in the end.

A fun and interesting day of World Cup football, a surprising result.

Iran beating Wales 2-0 with late goals, stoppage time goals, and really well-deserved.

And a nice moment for them, I will say that there were people that were not happy with me for

suggesting that Iran were not good. I will defend myself by saying they did lose 6-2 in their

first match, and I was not the only one who said that they might be one of the worst teams in the

tournament, but they came through today. And in so doing, have created a situation where the USA-Iran game really is a knockout game, but Iran now in a position to defend a draw. And the USA will have to go win that game, and we'll talk about that more. In addition, there was a Netherlands Ecuador game, Cody Gakpo with a beautiful goal, maybe putting some extra zeros on his price tag, but Ecuador actually outplayed the Netherlands, unlucky not to win. Senegal beat Qatar, who are probably the worst team in the tournament at this point now. I mean, Costa Rico will have to see their second game. Actually, they're raising their hands saying, hey, notice me, notice me. We'll see.
