Hi, my name is Doug H-H-I'm an alcoholic.

By the grace of God, the Fellowship Alcoholics anonymous. like I'm looking at this room including a lot of the folks that are in this room.

I haven't found a necessary take a drink since March 15th, 1994.

And for that I'm awful grateful.

Thank you, Chris, for asking me this afternoon to speak.

My first thought when you asked me to speak. My first thought when he asked me to speak was Bob and Jerry and I came in town and I met them in town on Thursday, Bob shared at Sandy's meeting. And we talked Thursday night and I said how uncomfortable it would be

if I ever had to stand in front of a podium at a meeting alcohol synonymous

without having a shirt and tie on.

So Sandy, first off, I want to thank you for telling us at the very beginning that this was

not an a a meeting, there is no a meeting, there are no a a book, this is just a group of men who happen to be sober

members of Alcoholics Anonymous, so I can rationalize my behavior.

The other thing that stuck in my mind, the very second thought was that I am a, I travel a lot for work by car and so I am a CD

listener and I wore out a CD of my new grand sponsor who has a talk that I've had in my car for years and the talk is in AA,

traditionally we, dot, dot, dot, dot, dot, and he talks about things that he does in his life and he talked about wearing a tie and wearing a shirt with a collar at his meeting and whenever he's at a podium and that was the second thought
