fellow of this and a director of that i'm none of those things i haven't written a book i've got PhD

i'm not a fellow of this or a director of that.

My only qualification for being here is being an alcoholic who's been in AA for 29 years.

And what we're going to be talking about,

what I'm going to be talking about,

is the traditions in relationships.

Clancy always tells the story about the moment that the sponsor's heart sinks.

It's where your sponsor phones you up and says, I'm in a relationship. I need some advice.

If you've ever sponsored people, your heart will have sunk at that point as well

for lots of different reasons. Now, the big book has got plenty of material on relationships,

but the traditions are an excellent guide for relationships. The 12 concepts are useful too. What they're good on is getting work done

with other people in recovery in the service area, and you can apply it outside recovery as well.

But getting work done in the service structure in a way which is effective, efficient and harmonious.

So traditions, the traditions are a mixed bag.

They're partly about how the group operates internally.
