alcoholic uh i tried like anything not to get to come here tonight i swallowed a cla a cough drunk hole last night about 10 o'clock.

I was up most of the night trying to cough it up.

Went and had one of those scopes today to see if it was still there,

but might be further than that.

But they'll let me go, and here I am.

So speaking is not one of my most favorite things and when one asked me I don't know what it was God working

through because I don't know whatever possessed me to say yeah I'll speak for four weeks

I don't even usually speak for an hour, never mind four weeks, but here I am.

And one of the things that, you know, I do know that the art of storytelling is

far older than the science of psychology.

It's one of our greatest tools to carry a message, to get repeat information,

to kind of have people relate and identify, And it's really an important part of recovery.

I know for myself, one of the best things for me to do when I was early in sobriety was

to go and sit in a speaker meeting, sit back, identify with the speakers, and just relax because, you know, I didn't

even have the ability to put a sentence together sometimes when I first came around.

I was just too nervous, too insecure, too frightened, and I really didn't still know

what was wrong with me.

So I think storytelling is an important part of carrying the message, and that's one of the

reasons why I'm here tonight, is because we're supposed to go to any rate to give it back.
