Good evening again. Welcome, welcome.

So tonight I'd like to start with a story that we find in the literature of early Buddhism.

But something that I think is remarkable about this story is that it's not only captured in the Buddhist literature of ancient India,

but other religious traditions at that time.

I think it's in the Jains, and I think it's into like proto-Hinduism stuff.

So it was like a story that was kind of like float, this is my interpretation.

No, some scholars would say this as well.

A story that was kind of like floating around

and then different religious traditions, as they do,

kind of like sucked it up and incorporated it

and made it their own.

So this is something that comes.

Maybe you've heard this, heard this story.

I know I've heard it in different settings, a number of different times.

And then I'd like to use it as a springboard, jump off on to talk about some topics,

which you'll hear about shortly.

So there's a king, and he asks somebody to round up some of the people that have been blind

since birth, individuals who have never had the sight faculty who cannot see.

And the individual does this.

It's a group of, I don't know, like maybe 10 or so people who have never seen before.
