. Good morning. I'm Jane Pauley, and this is Sunday morning. The 79th annual Tony Awards are tonight here on CBS, live from Radio City Music Hall.

Of course, as home to Broadway, New York is always a fitting host for the Tonys.

And tonight, even more so, as one of the leading nominees is largely set in New York, the musical Ragtime.

Based on the best-selling novel by E.L. Doctor-O.,

it's up for 11 awards. This morning, Mo Rocca explores why it's resonating so deeply with today's audiences.

The characters of the musical epic ragtime may come from different worlds,

but they're all pursuing the American dream.

The Tony-nominated stars of the show can relate.

We have all led shows for 20 years, and so I think it's a rare thing when people that have

had this much experience land on a stage together, that's part of the

specialness of this production.

For decades in movies like Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T., Stephen Spielberg

has explored the possibility of alien life. As he'll discuss with

The movie for me is a summation of my life in science fiction. Disclosure Day tells the story Steven Spielberg has wanted to tell for decades.

Of course it's not science. It's a fiction. It's a movie.
