0:57.1	been in 2013, I went out for lunch with my friend Austin Cleon. And Austin is amazing. I've been a
1:05.1	longtime reader of his stuff. If you haven't read, steal like an artist, keep going. That's like my new favorite of his, but he's a
1:12.4	wonderful writer. And he took me out to lunch. We went to a place in East Austin that is no longer there.
1:19.2	It's been gentrified out of existence. Actually, I like what's there much better. But anyways,
1:25.3	we went to this great place. I remember I had meatloaf or
1:27.7	something like that. But after we ate, he drove me around the city, showing me some things and
1:33.5	giving me advice. And he was a little older, and he was already married, and he had kids. And I
1:39.2	remember asking him how he made time for all of it. And he said, I don't. He said the artist's life is all about
1:47.3	trade-offs. And then he gave me a little rule that has stuck with me always. He said, work,
1:52.7	family, scene, pick two. Now work, that's your creative output. That's what you do professionally.
2:01.9	Family, that's your spouse, your kids, or close personal relationships.
2:06.2	And then seeing, that's the fun stuff that comes along with success.
2:11.1	Parties, fancy dinners, important friends, the stuff that looks good on Instagram that you can brag about that falls in your lap like a wonderful
2:19.4	surprise, offers, invitations, perks. And it'd be wonderful, of course, if you could have it all,
2:26.8	but you can't. You can party it up and maybe hang on to a relationship, but you won't have much time
