Father in heaven, would you take these few moments and help us to pursue our joy in Jesus?

In gathering here, we are coming with at least a small expression of desire.

To be at the conference, to be in the session.

We want to enjoy Jesus Christ in the habits of our lives and in particular the means of your grace.

And so would you provide clarity here for us?

Would you not leave our hearts unmoved and unstirred?

Would you provide opportunities in our minds and imaginations for steps forward?

And would it all be to the greater enjoyment of your son?

A few years ago, I was speaking to some college students and posed the question to myself,

what is the most important truth I learned in college?

I racked my brain, trying to think all the different details,

all the different facts, liberating discoveries I made,

not just in political science, which was my major in college,

not just in doing pre-dental, I thought I was going to be a dentist,

but mainly in what I was learning about

Jesus and about the Christian faith and about how God impacted my life. Rodney talked about

the book Desiring God. That was true for me too. The end of my freshman year in college,

my world was turned around through reading with friends, the book Desiring God.
