Hey, good morning. It's Paige Browning. It's Monday. This is Seattle now. It's a common refrain that

Seattle is a great place for dogs. And for good reason, there are more dogs than kids in the

city, and USA Today recently named Seattle the best city in the country to have a dog. So it might

surprise you that the Seattle Animal Shelter is close to capacity and in need of adoptive or

foster pet parents. We'll visit some pups up for adoption and hear from vet

Cardin Kennedy in a minute. But first, here's what's coming up this week.

The Washington State Republican Party Convention starts on Thursday in Spokane. The party will

elect its delegates to represent Washington at the

Republican National Convention in July. Delegates will also endorse candidates for significant

statewide races, like the race for governor. The state's Democratic convention will be held in late

June. Earth days a week from today, which means there are lots of volunteering opportunities popping up.

You can help purge some blackberries from Discovery Park tomorrow or help you-dub students with reforestation at Magnuson Park this weekend.
