Summary

The Nats beat the Reds 5-2 on Sunday afternoon to complete a series sweep and James Wood was the hero at the plate. Mark & Al open with Wood's 3-run HR that broke a 2-2 tie. Wood hit 7th over the weekend after recent scuffles and the round tripper was his first extra base hit in over two weeks. (09:00) The two guys that Wood brought in on the homer were Keibert Ruiz and Ildemaro Vargas. Ruiz singled in the 8th and Vargas followed with successfully laying down a bunt single. (14:00) Jake Irvin bounced back with a strong seven inning outing. Irvin only allowed two runs and struck out seven Reds in the process. (17:00) For the third consecutive day Kyle Finnegan recorded the save, his 28th of the season. Finnegan had a whirlwind week between the late notice on being an All-Star and appearing in every game over the weekend. (24:00) The Trade Deadline is less than ten days away and the Nationals are six games below .500. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
