So today you're here to chat with us about women in Tudor times.

That seems like kind of a general enough topic that we could, we could honestly spend hours

chatting about it, but we'll do our best over here to keep things reasonable.

The first thing I'd love to ask you is, why women?

Like, what drew you to research this one segment of the tutor population?

Well, that's a really good question.

For me, I think it actually goes back to my teenage years in a really cliched,

unoriginal kind of way.

But I spent a lot of time reading books about student history going, okay, but where are all

the girls?

And then when I got to university, I was studying English and history, and I was

still asking that question. And so then I started to write essays about them. And I was increasingly

drawn to reading about women, to trying to write about women. And then eventually I got into a PhD

and, yeah, started to write about elite women at this time
