slightly different context. But inevitably, and quite correctly, we begin by returning to the

grim territory of Sarah Everard's murder and the sentencing yesterday of Wayne Cousins to a full life tariff.

I want you to indulge me for three, two to three minutes on the big picture stuff, the point, if you like, and then I think we'll get stuck into the practicalities because it was a call to Nick

actually that made me change my mind slightly about this, a female caller to Nick saying that we've

gone from rightly examining the threat that women face and talking about the security of our streets

and the possible corruption of the Metropolitan Police, the moral corruption in this case. And we've gone, and I don't

know why. I think it was correct to report yesterday on what Harriet Harmon had to say, and it was

correct to cover the question of whether or not Cressida Dick should resign or even perhaps be

fired, but a very powerful caller to Nick Ferrari earlier pointed out that we've allowed that

spotlight to move a little

bit too quickly. So we will be returning the spotlight today to women and the police. We will not

be turning the spotlight for very long upon the question of institutional misogyny or the

suitability of Cressida Dick staying in her job.
