Summary

Gather round my gaggle of geeks and gays, we’re tackling “womb envy” yet again! Huzzah! A commentary on the ills patriarchy has bestowed upon society, we are blessed to carry their cognitive loads to term and birth new stress-related ailments for all to acquire.  No but seriously, this week we’re discussing the new research I’m drooling at the faucet over as well as wrapping up our short series on “womb envy.” Make sure to wear sandals to this week’s communal Schauer, I mean it IS what Jesus would do. Nuance: I don’t actually think that researchers and writers at Scientific American are writing articles and doing studies just for me - that was a joke. Sometimes people who aren’t men can make jokes too. Hi guys, welcome back to Shower Thoughts. My name is Tara Shower. This is a podcast for left and right brainers, middle brainers, anyone with the ponds, medulla, brain stem, any sort of nerve. Welcome. This is a podcast where we just discuss, you know,

0:23.9

neuroscience-y topics, science, you know, steam, science technology, engineering, arts, math,

0:29.7

because the arts are incredibly important. What are we getting into today? Well, we are picking up

0:33.4

where we left off with last week talking about WUMNB. I said I didn't want to get

0:38.7

philosophical, but what I meant by philosophical was more talking about people's beliefs on what

0:45.1

type of socioeconomic system works the best. Because the thing is, I'm down for a debate,

0:50.9

but there's always going to be the people who are like, let me play devil's advocate and tell you about Adam Smith. And I'll be like, oh, please, no, because I was talking about, you know, zero sum, positive sum, negative sum, how envy is more of a zero sum emotion if you don't know how to aim it. But before we get into that, we're going to talk about how my week has been going,

1:12.8

just because, you know, shower thoughts, they're musings while you're in a relaxed state,

1:19.6

a little bit free-flowing thought, hence shower, but we're entering flow state.

1:24.7

What I've done this week is, oh, yeah, my new book club is going to

1:29.3

start soon. I'm posting the information for that today. So by the time this episode goes out,

1:34.3

the new book club will be starting. We're most likely going to be doing a decision-scape,

1:39.7

how thinking like an artist can improve our decision-making by Elspeth Kirkman or thinking in systems by

1:45.6

Danella H. Meadows. And I know thinking in systems is like a number one bookseller when it comes

1:51.9

to systems thinking. And systems thinking is kind of like, like how I think usually, you know,

1:59.9

when it comes to like inputs, formula, output, feedback, right,

2:04.6

that's basically it for systems thinking.

2:07.1

And I really want to read it with a group because I love thinking in systems.

2:12.1

It just helps you comprehend topics a lot easier.

2:15.9

And then another thing is I think I'm also going to do a magazine club

2:20.8

because I want to get people into reading and literacy, but I know that a lot of people don't

2:27.2

have time for a full book. And so having a magazine club where once a month we just come together
