Summary

The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Episode 110 It's time to be plain. Actually, it's long past time. What's happening in America today and throughout the West is a Maoist cultural revolution, just like happened in China under the CCP from 1966 to 1976. This is plain to see for those who know what to look for, from the struggle sessions, to the ideological totalism, to the separation of families, to the brainwashing in schools, to the destruction of statues, curriculum, and culture. If we are to have any hope of stopping this Maoist Cultural Revolution with American Characteristics, we have to begin by being honest about it. In this episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay walks the listener through a speech given by Mao Zedong (https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/mao/selected-works/volume-5/mswv5_58.htm) in February 1957 to make very clear and palpable that what's happening here, now, is what was happening there, then. Mao gave this speech on the eve of the Great Leap Forward (into catastrophe), just as we're living through our present tumult on the eve of the Great Reset. Join James for this must-listen podcast so you can understand clearly where we are and thus what we might do about it. Hey there everybody, it's James Lindsay, you are listening to the new Discourses podcast

0:24.1

and it's time we start talking a little more clearly, I suppose, about what's going

0:28.2

on in America and the West today and the, what do we mean by the West, by the way, what

0:34.7

I mean specifically, although it extends more further, further than this, more broadly

0:40.1

is largely, we would think the English speaking West, but it's places that have been heavily

0:46.8

influenced and touched by the English or and or Scottish enlightenment, so a lot of us

0:55.1

would associate that with almost Americanism, but it's roots are back in English common

0:59.6

law in the sense of personal liberties, and what we're undergoing in these places is

1:06.2

a cultural revolution, and this has been a point I've been raising for literally three

1:12.2

or four years, in February 2020, which is three years ago now, is before George Floyd,

1:20.1

in fact, almost three months to the day before George Floyd died, and the kind of kinetic

1:25.3

portion of the American Cultural Revolution kicked off, I met with a number of officials

1:32.0

in Washington, DC, including some Department of Defense officials, and asked them if they

1:37.2

were aware that we were entering into kind of the phase that precedes a act of cultural

1:43.9

revolution, and that it would probably arise through critical race theory within six months

1:49.9

of February 2020, it turned out that three months later at the end of May 2020 George

1:55.9

Floyd died, and that's precisely what happened, I needless to say was not taken seriously

2:01.8

at the time, so at the point I've been raising for a while kind of excitingly, I suppose,

2:08.8

because it's finally going to start to mainstream at the time of this recording, just the other

2:12.3

day Bill Mar, which is a show called Real Time, or something like that, you know, it's

2:17.4

sort of like mainstream dissident left sort of, you know, material, he talked about it,
