I'm never going to shake off. I've been in the media now getting on for 25 years. So you've been in the media probably longer than you were in the police. Correct. Yeah. Yeah, indeed. But I'm still proud to have that title. I'm proud that I was a Scotland Yard detective back in the day when Scotland Yard was a name and a reputation

that opened doors for you and made law enforcement roll out the red carpet.

Wheresoever in the world you went.

Yeah.

Unbelievable, isn't it, how that kind of perception has changed?

Astonishing and heartbreaking for many detectives of my generation who contact me and read the

headlines and shake their heads and uniformed officers as well, many that I'm in contact with

that served in yesterday year when of course policing was not perfect, let me make that perfectly

plain, but it's served the public so much better than what

they get today. Indeed. And you could say things like, right, you're nicked. You're nicked.

Yeah. Get in the back of the van, mind your head.

I was slightly taken by this food list that the government have released.

And you just know that when the government embark on something,

because ordinary people don't work in the government or in the civil service

or as special advisors, and they're all called Pandora and the like.
