So the one thing you can't do is what many have tried a more modern example is the manual count.

Who said, you know, what really matters is that the gospels present this archetype, this image, or literary figure of the person perfectly pleasing to God.

And as long as you got that, you've got the essence of the gospel.

Whether this figure really exists or not, finally who cares?

What's the main stream of the Christian tradition has always resisted?

That's a nosticizing tendency as well.

It's always resisted it because he matters.

Now, because he matters so much, his teaching matters.

So I pay attention especially to Jesus' teaching because of Jesus.

You know, it doesn't work the other way.
