Welcome back to the Word on Fire show. I'm Brandon Vat, the content director at Word on Fire.

Over the next couple episodes, we're going to do something a little different than usual.

Instead of having a conversation between Bishop Baron and me,

we're going to share a talk that Bishop Baron recently gave called Against the YouTube Heresies.

It's kind of a play on St. Irenaeus' great work from the second century called Against the Heresies,

where St. Irenaeus dealt with the strongest challenges to faith in his day.

And so Bishop Baron is doing the same thing in our day. He's looking at some of the most common points of resistance that people have to Christianity in the 21st century, particularly online.

A lot of the stories and examples he shares comes from his work engaging young people on YouTube.

And so he's sort of detected these major patterns of resistance,

and he's offering some thoughts on how we as Christians can respond to them today.

During this episode of The Word on Fire show, we're going to share the first half of the talk,

and then in the next episode we'll listen to the second half of the talk.
