John chapter four, verse one.

Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing

more disciples than John, although Jesus himself did not baptize, but only his disciples.

You know why Jesus didn't baptize?

Because he just wanted to remove himself

from the comparison trap like we talked about last week.

Because it does not matter who baptizes you.

It matters in whose name you are baptized.

Amen?

And he left Judea, which is down here, and he departed for Galilee, which is up there.

Verse four. And he had to pass through Samaria, which is in the middle of the two. Underline the

words had to. Here's the problem with this verse, verse four. It says he had to pass through

Samaria. No, he didn't had to. Because Jews all the time would go around Samaria.

It was customary to go around Samaria.

There was a tension between the Jewish people and the Samaritans, and they hated one another.
