Hey, welcome to our Christmas Eve service. Welcome to our candlelight service. Real service, fake candles.

So if you didn't get a fake

candle, because I think we might have been out of them, then just at the end of the service,

when we get to the candle lighting part, just feel free to pull out your smartphone and turn

the light on. Most of your grandparents just been on most of the service anyway, so it'll be fine, okay?

We are in the fourth week of this series called rescue mission and it'll continue on to next week

and you just need to know this whole idea for the series was my wife gretchen's idea and i have found

that if i just do what her say what she says life goes much better amen jp amen that's just true

especially at christmas time and she said she said when i was writing this coming up with the sermon series like, I don't

know, year and a half ago, she said, you know, you always say that Jesus came on a rescue

mission for us and nothing is a better picture of that rescue mission than the word

becoming flesh, that baby in a manger.

And the moment that we get rescued, we become a part of the rescue

team. And she said, you should take your podcast and interview our partners that are rescuing

other folks in Jesus' name. And so that's what we've been doing. It was all her idea. And when

she pitched me the idea, I thought, yeah, this is a really good idea. And a part of the reason at

Christmas is because at Christmas time, all of us

expect for everything to be made right. We all have this expectation. We sing about it. We're

entertained by it. We look forward to it. I mean, this is what we know. We know at Christmas time

that Rudolph is going to get to play in the reindeer games. We know that. We know at Christmas time that Rudolph is going to get to play in the reindeer

...
