All right.

Church, if you got a Bible, turn to Malachi.

That is a book of the Bible.

Actually, if you don't know where that is, it's the very last book in the Old Testament.

The easiest thing to do is find Matthew and then just turn a couple pages the other way.

And we are in a series.

We started last week a series on the book of Malachi. And Malachi takes place about 400 years before Jesus shows up. And it's about 100 years

after Israel has come back out of Babylonian exile.

The second temple had been destroyed.

They got to rebuild it.

If you ever heard the story of Nehemiah and building the walls back around Jerusalem,

that's this kind of time period that's going on.

And God brings these people back, the Israelites, back into Jerusalem, and they say, God, it won't be like it was.

I promise we won't act like that.

We won't do those sorts of things.

We won't depart from you.

And just like every other time, and just like you and just like me, we make big promises to God about how everything's going to be

different and then it's not, right? And we make, we seem to make the same mistakes over and over,

the same sins over and over and over and yet God is faithful. And that is what the book of Malachi

is about. And so I want to kind of back up and look at Malachi chapter one,

starting in verse one, and just kind of catch you up if you weren't here what we studied last
