Hello and welcome to the EDH rec room. Rec room episodes are a little more of a relaxed

chat about recent events and we're doing this in place of a traditional episode this week

because, well, guys, there's a lot to discuss. The past two-ish weeks have been some of the most

eventful shakeups in the history of the commander format. So here we are. I hope you guys are doing

well. We're doing. We're doing. Yeah. And additionally, we were actually all together. Yeah.

When this information came down. And that's also part of the reason this was a little bit easier to do

for a show without video because we're on a time crunch this week for that reason. Yeah.

It was a really lovely work event.

It was a great time to get to hang out with you guys. So I'm glad that we could all be together

when a whole lot of news happened. We were literally at brunch Monday morning when this bit

of news hit. Well, let's let's talk about the news then. I know it's not the best news that's

been coming out of the past couple days. But I feel like we just got to get to the point because there's a lot to say and we don't have a lot of time to say it in.

Indeed. So what is the news? Last, last Monday on the 23rd, four cards were banned. Doxed extortionist, Nauru winged Wisdom, Jeweled Lotus, and Manacrypt. They were

banned commander. There was a lot of response to that, including, unfortunately, pretty

substantial backlash. Several members of the Rules Committee closed off their social media,

and the vitriol rose to the level of some pretty dangerous stuff, including threats

against their safety at events such as the upcoming MagicCon in Las Vegas.

Then this past Monday on October 1st, the Rules Committee announced as a result of the threats last week against Rules Committee members, it has become impossible for us to continue operating

as an independent entity, given that we have asked Wizards of the Coast to assume responsibility

for Commander, and they will be making decisions and announcements going forward.

Worth noting that before this, some members of the Commander Advisory Group had stepped away

from that role, starting with Josh Likwai, and also that after this announcement,
