President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff has arrived in Moscow and is meeting

with Russian President Vladimir Putin for talks on ending the war in Ukraine.

Speaking to CBS News, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described efforts to reach an agreement

as moving in the right direction. But sources familiar with the discussions have told CNN

that Trump has frustrated his attempts to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine have so

far fallen short. Intentions appeared to boil over yesterday, with Trump telling Putin to, quote,

stop after Moscow hit Kyiv with a wave of deadly attacks, which Russia claims targeted

military assets in civilian sites.

Meanwhile in Russia, one of the country's senior military officers has died in a car explosion

in a city just outside of Moscow this morning.

That's according to Russian authorities, who say the blast was caused by an improvised explosive

device packed with shrapnel, adding that they've opened a criminal probe

into the case.
