It’s October 29th. On this day in 1693, the Salem witch trials came to an end when a superior court decided it would no longer hear “spectral evidence.”

Governor William Phipps dissolved the court that was conducting the trials and a higher court did not

Over the course of the witch trials in Salem 19 people were hanged on Gallows Hill

most of them women a 71 yearold man was pressed to death with heavy stones.

Several people died in jail awaiting their trials for witchcraft,

and nearly 200 people overall were accused of practicing the Devil's Magic as they put it among them three
