One of the challenges of the Christmas holidays is that we lose sight of ourselves.

And I've done talks on this before, teleclasses and coached people through the stress and anxiety that comes up through the holidays and I think

it's important that we share that we can get very easily sucked into other people's agendas this time of year because we might feel

that our well is dry because we might be low energy or feel like oh my goodness I you know I have this list to do and this

project to take care of and this recipe to create and then this many people to

visit and so on and so forth and so it feels to me like the right time to remind the anxiety slayer listeners about the

importance of setting aside even a few minutes each day to do something that you enjoy.

Guess I'd like to start by asking you how you care for yourself during the holiday.

What is your particular routine?

I don't like being out of my routine too much.

And I become unsettled if I'm out of touch with my practices

and what helps me feel comfortable and purposeful in my life.

I try and set aside a bit of time for quiet and contemplation and if I can have that, I'm okay. My physical energy isn't always particularly high and that can

be a challenge in that you get dragged around by other people's emotions. When there's other excitable

you can find that you become the sort of lowest common denominator socially because you

just haven't got the resistance to say I'm going for a walk or I'm doing this or or that so I take a lot of shelter in getting up early and having my meditative practice there in the morning before all the business happens then that stays with me throughout the whole day,
